Peter
Neville is a percussionist who, since graduating from the Victorian
College of the Arts, has performed a wide range of musical styles
whilst developing his interest in composition. Peter has worked
for fifteen years as a part time percussionist with the Melbourne
Symphony and has also worked for the Australian Chamber Orchestra,
the Tasmanian Symphony and the Philharmonia Orchestra of London,
in their Melbourne performance of Tchaikovskys 4th Symphony under
Vladimir Ashkenaszy.
Peter
has preformed in over a dozen musicals, including the Australian
show of Tap Dogs in which he assumed the role of musical
director. As Percussionist of Elision Ensemble, Peter has toured
internationally and nationally as well as participating in the recording
of much of their work. Works such as Chris Denchs driftglass,
for percussion and ensemble, have been written for and premiered
by him.
As
well as Elision Ensemble, Peter is a member of Jouissance, the trio
Nadoya (with Anne Norman and Satsuki Odamura), the David Chesworth
Ensemble, The Southbank Ensemble and the Zappa Instrumentaale. Peter
has written works for percussion quartet, voice and percussion and
saxophone quartet, as well as for The Southbank Ensemble and companies
such as Handspan Theatre and Skylark/Playbox.
